ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re inviting young people aged 15 – 21 who have a connection to Balsall Heath to join us at the start of an exciting journey to form a new on-going Youth Forum at The GAP Arts Project. The group will play an important role in the future direction of The GAP by enhancing youth voice within the organisation and shaping our creative and cultural offer for young people and the local community.

As part of the group, you will meet at The GAP on a weekly basis to:

~ Experience a wide range of arts and cultural activities, and co-produce your own artworks and cultural events at The GAP
~ Reflect on the needs and interests of young people and the local community, and think about what’s going on in the world and how we can critically respond through creativity and culture
~ Gain access to further professional development opportunities such as mentoring, volunteering, training, commissions, etc.
~ Build a supportive and inclusive community for young creatives in Balsall Heath, whilst having lots of fun along the way

WHERE AND WHERE?

~ Sessions will take place every Monday, 5 – 7pm , starting on Monday 18th October
~ Exceptions to this are during October half-term holidays where there will be sessions on 25th, 27th and 29th , 11am – 4pm. There will also be no sessions over the Christmas holidays.
~ Sessions will take place at The GAP. If COVID restrictions come back into place, sessions will move online.

WHO CAN APPLY?

~ You need to be aged 15 – 21
~ You need to live in or nearby to Balsall Heath, or have some other connection to the area (e.g. you go to school or college there)
~ You will need to be available Monday evenings @ 5 – 7pm from 18th October onwards, plus 3 days over October half-term holiday (25th, 27th and 29th @ 11am – 4pm)
~ We especially welcome applications from young people who are not in education, employment or training
~ You don’t need to have prior experience of arts/cultural engagement, just a real interest in learning more and getting involved
