Stories from: The Bangladesh Women’s Association

Bangladesh Women’s Association has been making a positive contribution in the community since they started in 1971.

“Empowering Women with adequate information, confidence and assertiveness to enable them to make a positive contribution and participate fully in society”.

BWA Mission Statement

Fliss Dragonfire has worked at BWA for a number of years. Here she outlines some of the work that they were engaged in prior to Lockdown – and some of the work that they have done previously.

When people come to this centre, everybody says this is a good place, they help a lot, they are friendly, they are helping each other, they give good advice.  It makes a different life.

Ozifa has gained numerous qualifications since she first attended the centre in 2017

Tina Begum has been attending sessions at the offices on Coventry Road for over two years. It has helped her learn new skills since her husband’s death.

BWA seek to bring people from different backgrounds and cultures together – sharing their talents and skills with one another. A recent initiative saw women cooking and eating together.
