I’ve come here today to do pottery. I was just made redundant last year and I wanted to find things to do that I’ve always wanted. I worked here before and did pottery with the children – just basic things  but I’ve never actually had a go myself and it was something I really wanted to do.

So I come here every Wednesday morning. It’s very therapeutic and relaxing.

I’ve made lots of things. At the moment I’m glazing this leaf [soap dish].  I’ve made pots. I’ve made cheese boards, little candle holders, – all sorts of things- a plate. Whatever it is you fancy making, we’re allowed to do. We’re not told we have to do one thing only.

It’s much nicer doing this [myself]. It’s quiet. I like the peace and quiet.

I’ve always liked art. I’m not particularly brilliant at it but I do like it. I used to like it at school.

I think I like it as well because it’s natural. I like natural products to work with. I like [working with clay] because you can make it be what you want it to be. I’m really excited to see the end result because you just don’t know what it’s going to turn out like. That’s something which keeps me coming week after week.
