Operation Malefic Birmingham East

Update from WMNow – dated 14th May 2019

A number of officers from departments across the force have been working together with Birmingham East officers in response to a number of serious violent incidents that have been playing out on our streets in recent days. This action took place last night between 16.30 – 22.00hrs. .

All Policing resources briefed and deployed in seven pairs in the following areas: Bordesley Green, Sparkbrook, Alum Rock, Balsall Heath

10 Vehicles stopped, there were many encounters on foot which led to two being searched, with one leading to a section 23 (Misuse of drugs act) An impromptu weapons sweep of Larches Park in Balsall Heath was  conducted, nothing found.

 The local communities were pleased to see the high visibility patrolling and the engagement of partnership’s officers also lead to an increase in WMnow sign ups .
