I am sure that you are aware that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government has been advising people to socially distance whilst out and about. In some areas, the narrow pavements, shop and business entrances and proximity of parked cars or moving traffic make it difficult to achieve the recommended two metres separation. We expect footfall to increase as more premises reopen and children return to school.
Birmingham City Council are introducing a trial scheme for temporary footway widening on Ladypool Road, Sparkbrook, following similar trials in Erdington and Kings Heath High Streets. This will involve the suspension of some of the short-stay on-street parking spaces, to enable pavements to be widened, using temporary barriers. Ramps will be provided to help with loading and access. Off-street parking is available in Council car parks on Ladypool Road, which are currently FREE.
Please ensure you are using this extended space to keep the two metre gap, keeping yourself and your family safe.
