Half Term Bike fun for kids

Beacon Academy Ackers Adventure Go-Ride session at The Ackers.

Who? Open to young riders aged 5-12 who are are already confident riders who would like to learn new skills including riding over uneven ground, mounting and dismounting the bike quickly.

What? Riders will be given the chance to try out the course before challenging themselves to ride as fast as they can. The course will be in a section of woodland which will be marked out with stakes and tape. Challenging features such as tree roots will be picked out with whitewash. Riders will be given the opportunity to improve on their previous best time. A podium will be in place to recognise the achievements of fastest times and best improvements in each category. MTB and CX bikes are suitable.

When? Wednesday 1 November 2023, 13:00-15:00.

Where? Ackers Adventure, Golden Hillock Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, B11 2PY.

Why? Develop skills, fitness and tactics.

What equipment do I need? A working bike; helmet; gloves; clothing that can keep you warm enough – but not so you get too hot putting an effort in; layers are good. See Bike, Helmet and Clothing Checklist (PDF).

What if I haven’t got a bike like that? Let us know by selecting the ‘borrow-a-bike’ option and we can sort it out.

What if my bike is not working properly? A ‘Dr Bike’ service will be available.

How much? This session is registered as a ‘Go-Ride’ race with British Cycling but we are charging just £1 per rider. Optional junior club membership is £5.

For the young riders, a parent/carer must be present. Please complete a consent form (DOC) for all riders and e-mail to academy@beaconrcc.org.uk in advance.
