FREE course for changemakers across Birmingham- register your interest

Are you frustrated about how your community is changing, or maybe how it isn’t changing enough? Are you angry about inequality, but not sure what to do about it? Do you feel like no-one’s listening?

Join a nine session programme to support and connect thirty people working to change Birmingham neighbourhoods for the better in different and overlapping ways- on issues from housing, to air pollution to food poverty.

The programme will:

  • Support you to build strong networks with and learn from other people creating change across the city
  • Help you to understand and get confident about the causes and concrete solutions to problems you’re trying to tackle
  • Provide opportunities to have your voice heard in the media and connect with decision makers.

The course, supported by Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit of Birmingham City Council, will be delivered by Economy, a charity aiming to empower people with the knowledge and confidence needed to challenge economic decisions that shape their lives and those of their communities. You don’t need to have studied economics, or feel like you need to know anything about ‘the economy’ to join this programme. You just need to:

  • live in Birmingham and be working to build a better city for yourself and your community
  • be passionate about community change
  • be determined to develop your skills and networks to further the change you’re striving to create.

**The course will start in June/July, and will take place through two-hour monthly online sessions, finishing in April 2023 (there will be no sessions in August or December).**

If you’re interested in the programme, fill out this short expression of interest form here by the end of April. Your answers will help Economy refine the programme and we’ll be in touch again when applications launch later in spring.
