Want to kick start your weekend with gentle exercise, surrounded by nature, trees and (hopefully) blue sky? Well on every second and last Saturday of the month, you can! Join us at 10am at the bandstand in Cannon Hill Park Birmingham for a free run and talk session. Running, jogging OR walking are all OK and welcomed.
We’re a friendly bunch. We love welcoming new folk. We meet on the second and last Saturday of each month for gentle exercise and connection with others to boost our mood, physical health and overall well-being. Hope to see you there!
#runandtalk Supported by Bournville Harriers and Kings Heath Running Club volunteers. The group is supported by England Athletics and the Charity Mind.
Running and Mental Health
Anyone can experience a mental health problem and while physical activity has proven to be effective, in both treatment and prevention, only 16% of people with a mental health problem are active once a week. Benefits of running for mental health include:
- Reduced anxiety and happier moods. Heard of endorphins – ‘feel good’ hormones? Released by exercise they can calm anxiety and lift your mood
- Reduced stress
- Time out to exercise can give you space to think things over and help your mind feel calmer
- Increased self-esteem
- Reduced risk of depression
No pressure. A friendly walk to gentle run and a needed cuppa after. Such a lovely group of people, who make you feel relaxed and good about yourself after a lovely morning
We meet on the second and last Saturday of every month to walk/ Run and Talk for health and wellbeing.
More information can be found on the group Facebook page where you can also send messages directly to organisers.
