Situated south of Birmingham, Moseley Park is beautifully maintained gated green space with plenty of species to discover on a foraging course in springtime.

When we meet up, we will go through laws and safety points of foraging before heading out to discover the wild food in the area.

The course includes:

  • an overview of foraging laws and safety best practice
  • exploration of the venue
  • introduction to a number of edible species
  • instruction on how to tell edible species apart from poisonous lookalikes
  • tips on harvesting
  • information on where to find these species again
  • recipe ideas
  • wild food treats to sample
  • digital information sheet sent after the course

The wild food tasters and preserves participants will get to try can include soups, pestos, herb rubs, vinegars, pickles, jams jellies and syrups. All are 100% plant/fungi-based or have a 100% plant/fungi-based alternative.

The exact meeting location and park access details will given two days before the course date.

Participants must be aged 18 or over – sorry, no children under 18 or babes in arms on this course.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.

Springtime and summer courses are predominantly plant focused, with mushrooms sometimes found depending on seasonal weather. Summer courses also have fruits and flowers to learn about. Autumn courses are mostly mushroom-focused with a small amount of plants available.
