Yemeni Community Association

We at the Yemeni community association in Birmingham are working hard to help our community, especially those who need our help the most, people who don’t speak English and who do not know the system in the UK. We also help the refugees and needy. We have ensured that staff working with these individuals are fluent in both English and Arabic for this purpose. We work with clients on a 1-to-1 basis providing advice on issues such welfare benefits, debt, employment, immigration, divorce, domestic violence and housing.

The support worker will signpost clients to relevant third party agencies and help them fill in application forms, read and explain letters, interpret on clients behalf etc. They tell us what kind of advice they need e.g. they may need legal advice so we arrange for a solicitor to hold a regular surgery. Many clients have housing needs which involves going online to make a housing application. We support them to do this using our own computers. We ask our clients for feedback every time they use the service and we use the feedback to inform the development of the project.
