Balsall Heath Library update
Birmingham Libraries are offering a new “Order and Collect” service from 11am on Wednesday 5 August. Balsall Heath Library is due to begin the Order and Collect service on 2nd September.
Dates are subject to change, so please keep checking Balsall Heath Library’s website for updates.
Library Services online continue to offer access to eBooks, databases, blogs and children’s activities from our library services web pages.
What is order and collect?
You will be able to place a request to collect up to 6 items held at the library you wish to visit.
- You put in your request online or by telephone (please phone the library you want to collect from)
- We select the items on your behalf
- You then arrange a time to collect
What to expect during your visit
This service is for collecting pre-ordered books only. For all other enquiries or anything else please email enquiries@libraryofbirmingham.com or phone 0121 242 4242.
You can return books at the same time as collecting your pre-ordered books.
Before arriving at the library
- Please wait to be given a collection time (please don’t come before we have contacted you by email or phone to confirm your collection time)
- If you or a member of your household is displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the library and ensure you follow Government guidance
- Bring your ‘Request number’ and customer name (if you’re collecting on someone’s behalf) with you so that we can identify your order.
- Bring a bag to carry your books in
- If possible, please don’t bring anyone else with you
- You must wear a face covering to enter the library, as per Government guidance
Collecting your books
- Please adhere to your collection date and time
- On arrival you will join a socially distanced queuing system outside the library
- Social distancing rules will be in place for both you and us and must be upheld
- You must wear a face covering to enter the library, as per Government guidance
Safety measures in place
- Security staff may be both inside and outside the building managing the queue
- Hand sanitisers will be available as you enter the building and we will ask you to make use of it as you come in
- We will be working behind plexiglass screens at the service counter
- You will notice that there will be an increased level of cleaning of equipment and surfaces
