300 Free Blossom Trees for Balsall Heath

From Wednesday 4 September, residents, businesses, and local groups based within the B12 postcode can register their interest to receive, for free, one or more blossoming trees to plant in their back garden, school, or community park.

The National Trust, with support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, is giving away 300 blossom trees to people in the Birmingham wards of Balsall Heath East and Sparkbrook, and Balsall Heath West. Part of the conservation charity’s Blossoming Balsall Heath project, the trees will help to create a Blossom Neighbourhood and increase access to nature in the area.

To help people select the right variety for their space, the National Trust has created a tree guide which provides details of the tree type, how tall it grows and whether it’s ornamental or bears fruit you can eat.

To access the guide, members of the Balsall Heath community email the Blossom Branch at Birmingham-blossom@nationaltrust.org.uk or call the Blossom Branch on 07974 389788.

Applications for the trees close at midnight, Friday 4 October and applicants will receive a response by 18 October 2024.
